my very own print...

my very own print
of my very own drawing!
I ordered this a couple of weeks ago from society6- they were offering a fantastic special for designers & I just couldn't resist. The best thing about the print is the size, its about 12 times larger than the original drawing! I draw itty-bitty so seeing my work larger than normal is pretty fantastic :)

Indie Fixx download!!

So I was on a little weekend get-away to Westmoreland Virginia and I return to see that I'm up on indie fixx today! what a great surprise! (pictures from the trip to be up soon :) )

I am so honored and proud to be a part of the Indie Fixx Feed Your Soul Project! The idea behind the project is to help keep a positive mindset during these rough economic times... the artwork created solely for this project is FREE!!! and for you to download, print, and enjoy!! What an awesome deal, right?! I think it's so fantastic that even though budgets are tighter, you can still enjoy, and be inspired by these pieces of art.

My download is an autumn inspired piece (it's most certainly one of my favorite seasons!) I love most everything about the season including the smells, the weather, all the flavors, the colors... it truly feeds my soul!

Thanks again everyone at Indie Fixx, I'm so happy to be a part of this ever growing project.
go on, check out all of the lovely downloads!!

more super fun ink drawings.
I'm really loving these. Normally I like my drawings to be simple, light, and airy; but I'm enjoying the heaviness (or maybe busyness?) of them.

overgrown

just been experimenting (and having fun!) with some inked line drawings. I have a whole page of a bristol sheet covered with these- needless to say I took many little breaks because my hand started to ache from the repetition of the circles.

I reeeaalllllly want to re-open my etsy shop. I want to create a steady stream of these quirky fun drawings I'm always doodling in my sketchbook and make some nice prints of them.

I'm so excited at the thought (!!!) that I even bought some cute 4x6 frames today so I can take some snazzy photos of the prints.
Now back to the drawing table... stay tuned for more!

I totally love carving my own stamps!! After having a linoleum block and carving tools in my possession for oh about 2.5 years, I finally started to make something of them. I had been looking at this book Lotta Prints for a while now and picked it up back in February. It's such a wonderful tool- there are many ideas and pictures of inspiration that will make your brain think in ways of stamping.

I first started out too complicated... small design with more small details.. very hard to do especially when I haven't touched this stuff in 6 years. I quickly learned simple shapes are easier and still just as fun. I have some other designs (leaves, flowers, hearts) but these birds are my favorite so far. I carved the body shape and then used an ink pen to do fine line details. I have a gagillion post-it notes and thought this was an excellent use of them. enjoy!
