Due to my recent fascination with cacti and succulent plants I decided to purchase and plant some of my own! I find so much inspiration in plants that I'm always doodling my own oddball flowers in my sketchbook and on scrap pieces of paper (I always have so much laying around that I put them to good use!)

poor bunny wabbit

This was originally just a pencil doodle in my sketchbook from a few months ago (I'm thinking March when spring was just arriving and I was in full bunny-mode)

I feel bad for the guy, but think it's utterly adorable! I may make a print for myself and put it in a teeny tiny frame.

Illustration Friday- wrapped

All wrapped up and ready to go!
Just a quick drawing for this week's illustration friday... I started drawing lots of tiny presents with fun bows on top but of course I ended up with one that included a feathered friend.
I would love to receive a cute little present with such a happy bird on top!

more super fun ink drawings.
I'm really loving these. Normally I like my drawings to be simple, light, and airy; but I'm enjoying the heaviness (or maybe busyness?) of them.

overgrown

just been experimenting (and having fun!) with some inked line drawings. I have a whole page of a bristol sheet covered with these- needless to say I took many little breaks because my hand started to ache from the repetition of the circles.

I reeeaalllllly want to re-open my etsy shop. I want to create a steady stream of these quirky fun drawings I'm always doodling in my sketchbook and make some nice prints of them.

I'm so excited at the thought (!!!) that I even bought some cute 4x6 frames today so I can take some snazzy photos of the prints.
Now back to the drawing table... stay tuned for more!

fat catt and licorice

Matt and I have been toying around with the idea of a children's book (written and illustrated by us!!) called fat catt and licorice. This of course is based off our own cherished kitties and their quirks (they never fail to make us laugh). We are always making up stories about them and what they really do when we aren't around. But... we are pretty sure catt just sleeps most of the time and licorice is hiding under the covers- he's a typical scared-y black cat. However their typical day would obviously make for an extremely super boring book. Hence our made-up stories of their imaginative adventures!

Below is a picture of licorice actually above the covers!

He meows a. lot. and has giant mitten like feet- which are so adorable!

So here just a few quick sketches of mostly cat head shapes and expressions.
More to come!

My thoughts of all fun wintery things didn't pan out so well. I decided to forgo the holiday submissions for Crane (the idea of hot chocolate sounds delicious... but midsummer not so much!)
I had fun with my little ink (and yes, more bright summery) drawings though. Here are just 2 of the new ones...
